Michael Duncan

Author and artist Michael Duncan was commissioned by The Heron Press to write 'Rainwalker', a book for EXPO '86 showing an artistic interpretation of the Natives of the Pacific Northwest.

Mr. Duncan's interest and commitment to the Native people has led to positions as a teacher at the Vancouver Indian Centre, an instructor for the Indian Youth Program at the Vancouver Y.M.C.A., and living with the Cree people in the far north of Ontario and Quebec.

He was chosen as set designer for 'In the Blood', the historical West Coast Indian pageant honouring the British Columbia Centennial. Mr. Duncan is the past curator of the Delta Historical Museum, past executive of the British Columbia Museums Association, and past director of the Vancouver Maritime Museum.

At present, his main interest is to continue to write and illustrate books on the heritage and beauty of his adopted Province of British Columbia. He has written over sixteen books since 1976, covering topics from heritage buildings to his EXPO book 'Rainwalker'.

Michael resides in Ladner, British Columbia.
